The compatibility guarantee

If you use our model finder or scanner and buy a memory or storage part that we list as compatible with your specific computer, we guarantee that it will:

• Physically fit the slot or bay (correct form factor and interface).
• Be the right type and generation your system supports (e.g. DDR4 vs DDR5, NVMe vs SATA).
• Be recognised by your machine when installed correctly.

If a guaranteed-compatible part fails any of these, we’ll arrange a free exchange or a full refund of the item — including return shipping. See Returns & Refunds for how that works.

Before a part appears on your model page, it clears these checks:

• Cross-checked across sources. Where more than one source covers your system, its core specs — memory type, slot count, capacity limit and drive interface — are corroborated across independent hardware databases, and marked independently confirmed only when at least two independent sources agree. Some systems are covered by a single authoritative source; those specs still back the guarantee.
• Matched to your exact model.A part is shown only when its type, generation, form factor and capacity fall within your system’s documented limits — never a family average.
• Two clear confidence levels. Verified fitmeans the exact module was confirmed against the manufacturer’s system scanner; Spec matchmeans it matches your system’s published specifications. Each option shows which it is, and the guarantee covers both.

• Buy through your model’s page. Start from Find your computer or the scanner so the part is tied to your exact system.
• Keep your order confirmation — it records the model you matched against.
• Install the part following the instructions (or ask us first if you are unsure).

The guarantee is about compatibility, not damage or change of mind. It doesn’t cover:

• Physical damage from installation (bent pins, static, forcing a module the wrong way).
• Parts bought without matching them to a specific model (generic catalog purchases still have normal returns, just not the fit guarantee).
• A system limit you chose to ignore — e.g. installing more than the board’s maximum after we flagged it.
• Ordinary change-of-mind returns, which are covered by our standard returns policy instead.

What is the difference between "Verified fit" and "Spec match"?

Verified fitmeans the exact module was confirmed compatible against the manufacturer’s own system scanner. Spec matchmeans the part matches your system’s published specifications but hasn’t yet been confirmed against a manufacturer tool. Both tiers are covered by this guarantee.

How do you know a part fits my exact model and not just a similar one?

We match to your specific make and model’s documented configuration — memory type and generation, slot count, capacity limit, form factor and drive interface — not a family average. What does "confirmed across N independent sources" mean?

It means several independent hardware databases agree on your system’s core specifications. Where more than one source covers a system we cross-check across them, and a spec is marked independently confirmedonly when at least two independent sources agree. Some systems are covered by a single authoritative source — those specs still back the guarantee, they simply don’t carry the independent-sources note.

Is the compatibility guarantee the same as your returns policy?

No. This guarantee specifically covers a matched part not fitting or not being recognised — free exchange or refund including return shipping, no restocking fee. Change-of-mind returns are handled by our standard returns policy instead.

Do you physically test every part in every machine?

We can’t physically test every part-and-machine combination, so we verify per tier: Verified-fit parts against the manufacturer’s system scanner, Spec-match parts against your system’s published specifications. The guarantee backs both — if a matched part doesn’t fit, we make it right.
